Dear Monkey Class Families, Welcome back! I trust you all had a wonderful weekend and are enjoying the slightly cooler temperatures. It’s been an exciting time in Monkey Class, filled with learning, discoveries, and joyful moments. Let's dive into some of the highlights from our recent activities. Plant Exploration and Care Last week, we delved into the fascinating world of plants, observing their growth and learning about their different parts. Using our classroom magnifying glasses, we took a closer look and even tried our hand at observational drawings. It's heartwarming to see the children's curiosity and care for living things as they tend to our plant section with diligence and enthusiasm. Research Projects and Discoveries We have been expanding our knowledge through research projects, sharing what we already know and investigating new questions. It's delightful to see children confidently sharing facts they've learned. For instance, one child confidently s...

Chinese--Sharing the Planet 3

Dear Parents and Caregivers, I am pleased to share that after our inquiry into animals, the children are now exploring the fascinating world of plants. They have previously planted various seeds with their teacher and are currently engaged with the informative book "A Seed" (一粒种子), which highlights the essential needs of plants, including sunlight, water, and soil. Through hands-on sorting activities, they examined seeds and enjoyed playing with fruit and vegetable puzzles that connect seeds to the plants they grow into.  Additionally, they have learned a delightful song called "一颗小小种子“ (A Tiny Seed), featuring catchy lyrics that reinforce the key vocabulary about seeds and their growth into plants. To further relate planting to the fruits we enjoy, we will read "A Cow that Loves Eating Fruits" (爱吃水果的牛), which beautifully illustrates how plants produce our food next week.  Children will be feeding the "cow" with various fruits, which will help them me...

Learning & Growing Together

Dear Monkey Class Families, It’s hard to believe how quickly the past two weeks have flown by in our classroom! Every day, I am amazed by how the Monkey class children are becoming more confident communicators and thinkers, sharing their thoughts and ideas throughout their time at school. This week, I’d like to share some highlights from our recent exploration and learning at school. Sharing the Planet Over the last two weeks, we revisited elements of nature and delved into the world of planting. We saved our pumpkin seeds from Halloween, and during our discussions, the children eagerly shared what plants need to grow—water and sunlight! One of our friends humorously referred to soil as “the dirty stuff,” but once we got planting, they confidently used the word soil. Currently, the children are taking turns watering our plants, and we are thrilled to see some little sprouts already emerging! In the coming weeks, we will explore planting other seeds, especially those found in the fruit...

Chinese--Sharing the Planet 2

Dear Parents and Caregivers, We have had another two exciting weeks in our classroom. Last week, we celebrated Halloween by learning about the tradition of making jack-o-lanterns through the story "Pumpkin Trouble" (问题南瓜). The children enjoyed taking turns playing with hopping pumpkin toys, which helped reinforce our keywords while adding a fun element to the day! This week, we returned to our Unit of Inquiry (UOI) and explored farm animals through the story "你是谁?" (Who Are You). In this story, a rabbit invites his animal friends to a party. The children actively memorized the pronunciation and characteristics of various animals by participating in the game "动物配对游戏" (Animal Matching). Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in your child's learning journey!
