Discoveries & Celebrations

Dear Monkey Class Families,

Welcome back! I trust you all had a wonderful weekend and are enjoying the slightly cooler temperatures. It’s been an exciting time in Monkey Class, filled with learning, discoveries, and joyful moments. Let's dive into some of the highlights from our recent activities.

Plant Exploration and Care

Last week, we delved into the fascinating world of plants, observing their growth and learning about their different parts. Using our classroom magnifying glasses, we took a closer look and even tried our hand at observational drawings. It's heartwarming to see the children's curiosity and care for living things as they tend to our plant section with diligence and enthusiasm.

Research Projects and Discoveries

We have been expanding our knowledge through research projects, sharing what we already know and investigating new questions. It's delightful to see children confidently sharing facts they've learned. For instance, one child confidently shared that the biggest shark is a whale shark, while another student demonstrated how spiders make webs using her hands. These research projects have been an absolute joy, and here are a few of the Did You Know Facts that the children were surprised by...

"Did you know that pandas have green poop and can't actually digest bamboo?"
"Did you know that the country with the most polar bears is Canada?"
"Did you know there are over 300 different species of monkeys in the world?"

Last week was dedicated to delving into various topics of interest, gathering valuable information to satisfy our curiosity. This week, we are excited to compile this newfound knowledge into vibrant posters, showcasing all the fascinating discoveries we've mad

Exploring Unusual Creatures and Learning Together

In our quest for knowledge, we recently introduced the children to some peculiar and enchanting creatures. Starting with a toy animal, we encouraged the kids to share their prior knowledge before embarking on a research journey as a class. It's heartening to see their willingness to learn, share ideas, and grow together, creating a vibrant atmosphere of collaborative learning. Have a look below to see some of the creatures we have explored as well as the first comments we heard when we showed the children the animal toys.

Math and Social Learning

Numbers have also been a focus during our circle time activities. Through a fun matching game with a large dice, the children honed their skills in one-to-one correspondence, number recognition, and subitising. The game not only strengthened their math abilities but also fostered social interactions as they took turns and made choices together.

November Birthday Celebrations

Last week, we celebrated our Monkey Class friends who have birthdays in November. Click on the links below to watch a glimpse of our celebration.

Wishing you a lovely week ahead and I look forward to seeing you on Friday the 29th of November at our Shared Learning Day. A friendly reminder that this day is not a typical school day. Children will only be attending for 45 minutes alongside their caregivers.
