Building Community in Monkey Class

Dear Monkey Class Families, The children have settled in wonderfully, and we had fantastic whole-class sessions this week. They seem more than ready for the upcoming transition to the three-hour schedule starting on Monday. As we look ahead to the coming weeks, our focus will be on fostering independence, sharing, taking turns, using their words to express needs, and getting used to our class schedule. It's natural to expect a few challenges and tears as they adjust to the new routine and school life. Rest assured, we'll be right there to support each child and meet them where they are. Additionally, we will delve into getting to know one another better and exploring our individual interests and connections as part of our "Who We Are" unit of inquiry. I am excited to witness the growth of the children's confidence, independent thinking, communication skills, and lifelong curiosity through hands-on learning and play! Welcome to our Monkey Class Blog

Dear Monkey Class Families, Welcome to our Monkey Class blog. We have had a very successful first week with the children, and I am so incredibly proud of all of them. And while there are still a few tears, this is perfectly normal, and we anticipate there may be a few more when we transition to school bus and the three-hour routine, but I promise we will be there to help and support each individual child. Next week, we will slowly move to the whole-class sessions, and since it is still only two hours, our schedule will be flexible to allow the children to continue to settle. Every session will, however, include time for snack if the children wish to do so, toilet time, and a variety of small group activities, free play, and a circle time. Parents are welcome to send the children to school on the school bus if they wish to do so; however, we will need an adult to pick them up after the 2-hour session, so this would mean 10:45 AM for the morning class and 3:00 PM for the afternoon class....

Welcome to Hillside Chinese Class

Dear parents and caregivers, Welcome to Hillside Chinese class! My name is Joey Lao Shi and I will be your child’s Chinese teacher this year. I hope you and your children have had a wonderful holiday and a fresh start to the school year and l am looking forward to seeing the children in our Chinese classes.  Our Chinese Day will be on Monday. On Chinese Day, children will be guided to have their learning activities in Chinese, including stories, music and movement, arts and crafts, etc.  We will update the class blog and the Chinese learning slide s regularly and you can find out more about the Chinese programme from these materials and help your children reinforce the language at home with them.  Chinese Class albums (see the link below) are also provided for you to see and upload your children’s Chinese learning progress both in class and at home.  We are going to have Hillside's Chinese Programme Webinar in late September to introduce more details about the Chines...
